LA
Confidential, Feb 20-24

Sunshine and showers for our fun but expensive (think fashionable restaurants such as Spago Beverly Hills and
the
boutiques frequented by Paris and Britney) weekend in the City of
Angels
- if only we could afford to do it more often!

Lunch
at the Ivy followed by shopping
in Santa Monica.
(Well, it was my birthday!)

At
the hip but bizarre Standard Hotel on the Sunset Strip.

A trip
through the San Bernadino Mountains to the Coachella Valley resort of...

...Palm
Springs - home to 700 millionaires - situated in the
shadow of Mount San Jacinto in the Colorado Desert.
(Doesn't the sun always shine in the desert?)

At
Ashton Kutcher's famed eatery, Dolce, on Melrose Avenue.

Drying out
at the 101 Coffee Shop back at our hotel.

Shopping
on Melrose. (I'm wearing my purchase!)

The
limo parking lot at the Shrine Auditorium
for the
10th Annual SAG Awards (more photos under E-Gossip).

LA
at night from Mulholland Drive in the Hollywood Hills.

Leaving
our hotel in Hollywood.

At
the Hollywood & Highland Center for a studio taping (see E-Gossip).

The Hollywood
sign began life in 1923 as a billboard for the Hollywoodland development and
originally contained its full name; however, in 1949, when a storm knocked
down the 'H' and damaged the rest of the sign, the 'land' part was removed and
the rest became the familiar symbol of the area and of the entertainment
industry.

Oh,
to be driving through Beverly Hills in a red convertible!

Just
time for some sea air before flying home.

On
the pier at Manhattan Beach. (Definitely got my money's worth out of that poncho!)
