Our Arizona Adventure, May 27-Jun 1

Wow, what a holiday!  First we drove from Phoenix up to Flagstaff, where we stayed in a motel on the historic Route 66.  Next day was a trip to the Grand Canyon, then a long drive down to Scottsdale for a couple of days in the sun, but it wasn't all about relaxing.....yet more hiking was in store.

Stopping in Sedona ("One of the prettiest locations in Arizona") for lunch.

Then a drive through Oak Creek Canyon.

The slopes were covered with pine and juniper.

Chapel of the Lonely Dove outside Flagstaff
with the San Francisco mountains as a snowy backdrop.

Our first glimpse of the Grand Canyon from the South Rim.

Setting off on the South Kaibab Trail.

One of many pit-stops on the way down to the Cedar Point plateau.

Now back the way we came.

Little Colorado River Gorge on the Navajo Indian Reservation.

We finally reached Scottsdale for a  well-deserved glass of wine.

This is more like it!
