Our Arizona Adventure, May 27-Jun 1 Wow, what a holiday!  First we drove from Phoenix up to Flagstaff, where we stayed in a motel on the historic Route 66.  Next day was a trip to the Grand Canyon, then a long drive down to Scottsdale for a couple of days in the sun, but it wasn't all about relaxing.....yet more hiking was in store. Stopping in Sedona ("One of the prettiest locations in Arizona") for lunch.   Then a drive through Oak Creek Canyon.   The slopes were covered with pine and juniper.   Chapel of the Lonely Dove outside Flagstaff with the San Francisco mountains as a snowy backdrop.   Our first glimpse of the Grand Canyon from the South Rim.   Setting off on the South Kaibab Trail.   One of many pit-stops on the way down to the Cedar Point plateau.   Now back the way we came.   Little Colorado River Gorge on the Navajo Indian Reservation.   We finally reached Scottsdale for a  well-deserved glass of wine.   This is more like it!   Our hotel, the Scottsdale Plaza Resort.   Scottsdale's Old Town.   Saguaro cacti are found only in the Arizona-Sonora Desert.   Heritage Square in central Phoenix.   The Diamondbacks and Giants lining up in Bank One Ballpark.   Phoenix seen from the foot of Camelback Mountain.   Part-way up the mountain.   Nearly at the top, Mike!   Dressed up for lunch and a spot of mall-shopping (Camelback in the background).
