E-Briefs '07

Jolie-Pitt Update: Well, I didn't spot any of the multiracial clan but saw photos of Angie and Maddox exiting Borders on the Magnificent Mile and of the whole clan making an after-hours visit to the Field Museum; also I heard they watched the Chicago Air & Water Show from a boat on the lake. Aug 9: How exciting! Brad and the kids have accompanied Angelina to Chicago; they're all staying at the Peninsula Hotel with their entourage. No doubt he'll be taking them to visit Lincoln Park Zoo, Navy Pier and Millennium Park while Mommy's at work. Aug 8: Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman and James McAvoy are in town for the next couple of weeks filming the action thriller Wanted which has shot predominantly in Prague; today's location was Johnny O'Hagan's bar in Wrigleyville. Also filming here this summer is the new Batman movie with Christian Bale and Heath Ledger. Fred Claus Update: Our house is seen in the TV trailer for the movie! Jan 24: On our return from the Far East the cabbie dropped us off half a block away as a film crew had taken over the intersection at Sedgwick and Dickens. After wheeling our cases between trailers and over cables in the snow, we stayed warm inside while Vince Vaughn and Rachel Weisz shot a scene for their new movie Fred Claus in the apartment building next door.

E-Briefs '06

Jun 2: It is now thought that Vince and Jen may become the occupants of a mansion under construction in Wayne, Ill. Jun 2: Jen confirmed to the ladies on The View that she wants to move out of LA; she also spoke about her fitness regime, skin care and how hair extensions ruined her real hair (the reason for her drastic cut a few years back perhaps?). May 29: Following the Chicago premiere of The Break-Up at the Music Box and the official after-party at Lincoln Park Zoo's Cafe Brauer, the celebrations continued at Cabaret nightclub where Vince and Jen danced to 80s tunes. May 25: Jen swapped Chicago food favourites with Conan O'Brien on tonight's show: he's a fan of the ribs at Twin Anchors and she loves deep-dish pizza and the trash-talking staff at the Wieners Circle (both Lincoln Park haunts). May 5: Vince and Jen are now said to be considering a downtown pad, maybe in the Palmolive Building. Apr 24: Vince and Jen are rumoured to be buying the $12.5 million home in Lake Forest, Ill. once owned by South Side native Mr T. Apr 11: Keifer Sutherland will be paid $40 million over three years in a new deal with Fox for his hit series 24, making him the highest paid actor in a drama series. Apr: Enemies, a TV pilot for ABC starring Jeffrey Donovan, has been filming in Chicago since mid March. Apr: Apparently, the Loop neighbourhood of Chicago is the place to invest: property in the 60602 zip code has the greatest appreciation in the country. Apr 5: Jen and Vince were back in Lincoln Park Monday night, dining on fondue at Geja's Cafe on Armitage. Mar 30: Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn were spotted listening to blues Tuesday night at Kingston Mines. The pair are in town re-shooting scenes (a new ending, I heard) for The Break-Up; yesterday they filmed in Millennium Park where the Cloud Gate sculpture was recently unveiled. But what about continuity? Beer-gut Vince has reportedly dropped 30lbs since last summer. Mar 30: While Fox has given the go-ahead to a second season of Prison Break, only the first nine episodes will be shot in Illinois: the series was primarily shot at a prison in Joliet with additional scenes in Lincoln Park (see E-Briefs '05 and '04) and downtown Chicago.

E-Briefs '05

Dec: Jen and Vince have been spied Christmas shopping on Chicago's Oak St. Oct: The whole town's talking about a Jen Aniston/Vince Vaughn coupling: she flew into town last week to catch his comedy gig at the Vic, and they've since been seen smooching at the after-party, dining at Pane Caldo and Gibson's, drinking at Tavern on Rush and Bella Lounge, eating hot dogs at the Wiener Circle in Lincoln Park(!) and spending time in Vince's hometown of Lake Forest. What's more, they've been snapped in a lip-lock on her hotel suite balcony at the Peninsula and seen snuggling under a blanket on the outdoor terrace at NoMi. Jul 27: There's a notice in my building informing residents that scenes for Fox TV's Prison Break will be filmed in the immediate area over the next couple of days - so it looks like I was right about what was filming here last winter. Jun: Johns Malkovich and Goodman are in town shooting Drunk Boat; and Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston have just arrived to film The Break Up. The extras casting call for the latter is on the 18th (Mike thinks I should go!), and filming starts on the 20th. May: Marc Finding Neverland Forster is in the Windy City directing Will Ferrell, Dustin Hoffman, Emma Thompson and Maggie Gyllenhaal in Stranger Than Fiction, which is being shot, in part, at the UIC campus. Apr: Speed stars Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock have reunited for a remake of Il Mare ('The Lake House'), currently filming in Chicago. He's been spotted at a Second City show and an AMC screening of Constantine; she's been seen dining at Gibson's (where else!). Mar 11: Matthew McConaughey reportedly drove his pickup truck into town during yesterday's snowstorm - towing an airstream trailer customized as a rolling billboard for his upcoming movie Sahara - and parked in the Lincoln Park Zoo lot.

E-Briefs '04

Dec 12: There's a film crew outside my building on Wisconsin; I've discovered that shooting is taking place in a house on Lincoln Park West, but it's too cold to hang around and watch for long! The only filming scheduled right now is a Brett Ratner TV pilot called Prison Break. Nov: I've just heard that Clive Owen and Jennifer Aniston (love them both!) will be in Chicago later this month filming scenes for their new movie Derailed ... by which time I'll be in England.
