Kasparov vs Dunne, Jun 17-19

From Alabama we traveled to Toronto for Mike's match against
Garry Kasparov, the highest-rated player there has ever been in the history
of chess.

The CN Tower: the world's tallest
freestanding structure since 1976 with the world's highest public
observation deck.

Queen Street West: a centre for Canadian
broadcasting, music, performance and fashion (Mike's fave, Avril Lavigne,
swept up at the Much Music Awards held there the previous night).

Looking south down University Ave which,
heading north, leads up to Queen's Park.

A last-minute practice.

Shopping on Yonge (pronounced 'young'), the
world's longest street.

Just one to steady his nerves in Yorkville, the
city's most fashionable area.

Great view of the university and downtown.

And the Royal Ontario Museum (the controversial
"Crystal" had been open only a fortnight).

A few words from the man himself at the
pre-game reception.

And we're off!

Kasparov played 20 games simultaneously -
and won them all.

It's all over: Mike lasted 29 moves before
resigning, and was
the last adult standing.

Chatting about where it all went wrong with Pascal, a
Grandmaster.

And then to Hemingway's, a late-night bar.
