Our
Wild West Expedition, Oct 5-10
[ Back ] [ Up ] [ Next ]
We swapped
star- for animal-spotting and drove through seven states in five days,
traveling across the prairies for
hours and seeing nobody - just bison, prairie dogs, coyote, raccoons, eagles,
deer and horses. With four consecutive days in the 80s, it certainly was an Indian summer in
the Indian
territories!

Galena,
Illinois on the Mississippi River.

The
Badlands of South Dakota.

Extending as far as the eye could see.

I
spotted three people I knew in the distance.

Presidents
Washington,
Jefferson, Roosevelt and Lincoln.

Mount
Rushmore up close.

'Begging
burros' came looking for handouts near Custer.

Herds
of bison.

Devil's
Tower, Wyoming (featured in Close Encounters of the Third Kind).

The
tower at
sunset.

We
made it to Sundance in time for the Cubs vs Marlins playoff.

The
gold-rush
town of Deadwood, South Dakota,
made infamous by
Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane.....and the HBO TV series.

The
world's largest bison!

A
typical Pioneer church.

The
university quarter of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The
Capitol at Madison, Wisconsin.
